Depending on the rules of the particular variant of the game, this kitty may be shared by all players, or it may be allocated to those who have dropped out of the game.
Using the right mix of bluffing, force, and luck, players can increase their chances of beating the competition. Many games require players to pay an ante before the cards are dealt. Usually, this is called the ante or blind. Some variants of the game allow the dealer to select some wild cards for the players to bluff with, thus eliminating the need for a blind.
Other poker variants, such as Two-Pack and Three-Card Monte, do not require players to ante up. In the case of Two-Pack, a blue chip is worth about 10 whites, while a red chip is worth about five.
